Not even in the same breath

Josef said to the wife of Potiphar who was trying to seduce him: How can I do this great evil and sin against God? (Genesis 39:9)

Since she’d be cheating on her husband and committing the sin of adultery, Josef should have said: How could WE do this great evil and sin against God?

Rabbi Simcha Bunim of Peshischa answered that Josef didn’t want to put himself together with her at all – even in mere speech.
